These Pumpkin Spice Cinnamon Rolls are soft, buttery, and yeast-risen treats featuring a spiced pumpkin filling and a tangy cream cheese glaze. They combine the comfort of classic cinnamon rolls with the earthy, warm notes of autumn spices. Perfect for breakfast or as a decadent dessert, the real pumpkin puree ensures every bite is incredibly moist and tender, offering a superior texture and complex sweetness that pairs beautifully with the rich, creamy frosting.

Ingredients

Scale

4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup pumpkin puree (not pie filling)
2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
1 cup warm milk (110F)
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 tbsp ground cinnamon
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter, melted (for dough)
1/4 cup butter, softened (for filling)
1 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

Instructions

Combine warm milk and yeast in a bowl until dissolved.
Whisk in pumpkin puree, brown sugar, and melted butter until combined.
Gradually add flour while mixing until a tacky dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 60 minutes.
Roll the dough out on a floured surface into a 12×18 inch rectangle.
Spread softened butter evenly across the entire surface of the dough.
Mix remaining sugar and spices, then sprinkle evenly over the butter.
Roll the dough tightly from the long edge into a log.
Slice the log into 12 equal rolls using unflavored dental floss.
Arrange rolls in a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Bake at 350F for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Whisk cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
Frost the rolls while they are still slightly warm.

Notes

Ensure your milk temperature is exactly 110F to activate the yeast without killing it. Using bread flour instead of all-purpose flour will create a chewier, more professional texture. Store leftover rolls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
