Ingredients

Scale

4 lbs sweet potatoes
1/2 cup pure maple syrup
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 cup pecans, coarsely chopped
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) for roasting.
Pierce sweet potatoes with a fork and roast on a parchment-lined sheet for 60 minutes until tender.
Peel skins while warm and mash the flesh in a large bowl.
Mix half of the melted butter and 1/4 cup of maple syrup into the mashed sweet potatoes.
Transfer the potato mixture to a baking dish.
In a separate bowl, combine pecans, flour, brown sugar, remaining butter, remaining maple syrup, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Spread the pecan mixture evenly over the sweet potatoes.
Reduce oven temperature to 350°F and bake for 45 minutes until the topping is golden and crisp.

Notes

Ensure the sweet potatoes are fully cooled before adding the topping to prevent the butter from melting too early. For a gluten-free version, substitute the flour with an almond flour blend. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
