Ingredients

Scale

1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1.5 cups granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
0.5 teaspoon salt
Buttercream frosting (optional for topping)
Holiday sprinkles (optional for decorating)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing on low speed until a soft dough forms.
Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan using an offset spatula.
Bake for 18 to 22 minutes until the edges are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow to cool completely before frosting and cutting into bars.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to 1 week. Ensure butter is properly softened to room temperature for the best crumb texture. Do not overbake as these bars are best when soft.
