Ingredients

Scale

2 lbs Ground Beef (85/15)
1 cup Breadcrumbs
2 Large Eggs
1/2 cup Dark Brown Sugar
1 cup Tomato Sauce (divided)
1/2 cup Onion (finely diced)
1 tbsp Garlic Powder

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Dice the onion into very small, uniform pieces.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, diced onion, and half of the tomato sauce.
Mix the ingredients gently by hand until just combined.
Shape the mixture into a loaf on a rimmed baking sheet or in a greased loaf pan.
In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining tomato sauce and the brown sugar until smooth.
Brush the glaze generously over the top of the loaf.
Bake for 60 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees Fahrenheit.

Notes

Lean ground turkey can be used as a substitute for ground beef. Fresh minced garlic can replace garlic powder for a more aromatic flavor profile. Ensure the onions are finely diced to prevent large chunks and help the loaf maintain its shape.
