Experience the ultimate autumn comfort with this classic apple crisp. Featuring tender, tart Granny Smith apples tossed in warming cinnamon, hidden beneath a buttery and golden-brown oat streusel. The perfect balance of a jammy fruit base and a satisfying crunch makes this dessert an essential centerpiece for cozy family gatherings and fall evenings.

Ingredients

Scale

6 cups Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cubed
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F and grease a 9×9 inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with half of the brown sugar, cornstarch, and half of the cinnamon until evenly coated.
Spread the apple mixture into the prepared baking dish.
In a separate medium bowl, combine the oats, flour, remaining brown sugar, and remaining cinnamon.
Cut the cold butter cubes into the dry mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples, do not press down.
Bake for 45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling.

Notes

Use Honeycrisp apples instead of Granny Smith for a sweeter fruit base. Ensure your butter is cold when cutting into the oat mixture to achieve the best crisp texture. Store covered at room temperature for up to 2 days.
