This classic apple crisp features a harmonious blend of tart Granny Smith and sweet Honeycrisp apples, tossed in warm cinnamon. Topped with a buttery, golden-brown streusel made of rolled oats, crunchy pecans, and aromatic spice, this dessert offers the perfect texture contrast. It is the ultimate comfort food for autumn, providing a professional-grade crunch that pairs beautifully with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

Ingredients

Scale

4 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and thinly sliced
4 large Honeycrisp apples, cored and thinly sliced
1 cup brown sugar, packed (divided)
1.5 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
1 cup pecans, coarsely chopped
1 cup all-purpose flour
0.5 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
In a large mixing bowl, toss the sliced apples with half of the brown sugar and half of the cinnamon until evenly coated.
Spread the apple mixture into an even layer in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
In a separate bowl, combine the oats, flour, remaining brown sugar, and remaining cinnamon.
Cut the cold cubed butter into the dry mixture using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the texture resembles coarse crumbs.
Fold in the chopped pecans to the streusel mixture.
Sprinkle the pecan streusel evenly over the prepared apple layer.
Bake for 45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apple juices are bubbling.

Notes

For the best texture, ensure the butter is very cold before incorporating it into the dry ingredients. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in the oven to maintain the crunch.
