Ingredients

Scale

1 lb Ground Turkey Sausage (sage or herb-seasoned)
12 cups Sourdough Bread, cubed and dried
2 large Granny Smith Apples, peeled and diced
6 tbsp Unsalted Butter
1 medium Yellow Onion, diced
3 stalks Celery, thinly sliced
2.5 cups Low-sodium Chicken Stock
2 tbsp Fresh Sage, chopped
1 tbsp Fresh Thyme, leaves only

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a 9×13 baking dish.
Brown the turkey sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat until cooked through.
Remove sausage with a slotted spoon and set aside in a large mixing bowl.
Melt butter in the same skillet to capture flavor, then sauté onions and celery until translucent.
Add diced apples to the skillet and sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened.
Add the cooked sausage, sautéed vegetables, and apple mixture to the bowl with the sourdough cubes.
Stir in the fresh sage and thyme, then slowly pour in the chicken stock while tossing gently until evenly moistened.
Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
Remove foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes until the top is golden brown and crisp.

Notes

Ensure the sourdough bread is cubed and left out overnight to dry, as this prevents the stuffing from becoming mushy.
If you cannot find pre-seasoned turkey sausage, add an extra teaspoon of poultry seasoning to the mix.
